Where it started

The story

Outback Fencing didn't start with investors or a boardroom. It started on a bare block of dirt in Cargo, NSW — with Josh and Jess Crawford, every dollar of their savings, and a belief that Aussie farmers were being overcharged for fencing that could be made better, closer to home.

Josh came off long days chasing something bigger for the family. Jess backed it from day one. They bought an entry-level machine, taught themselves to run it, and worked brutal hours turning wire into mesh — often not knowing if the next order would come. It did. Then more came. Word got around that there was a young family in the central west making genuinely good mesh and selling it straight to farmers, no middleman.

We make it ourselves

Today we roll our own hinged joint and fixed knot mesh on purpose-built machines in Orange, NSW — using heavy galvanised Bekaert wire, the same steel the big names use. We don't distribute someone else's product with a markup. We manufacture it, we quality-check every roll, and we ship it direct to your gate. That's why our pricing works: there's no reseller taking a cut between the machine and your paddock.

Alongside the mesh we supply Outback Pickets, gates, wire, the Outback Clipgun, and the tools to get a fence up fast — everything a job needs, from one place.

Who answers the phone

Dealing with the family, not a call centre

When you ring, you get Jess or Josh — the people who actually make the stuff, know the specs cold, and can spec your whole job over the phone. When you message after hours, it's still likely Jess replying, sorting deliveries across the country. Four kids, three beagles, two fencing machines, and a business that runs on grit and a genuine want to do right by rural customers.
